The Story
In Bahrain,
pearls were known by name
long before they were valued by price.
The most precious was the Dana —
a rare pearl, awaited, never demanded.
It was followed by the Hasbah and the Badlah,
each with its own presence and worth.
In their names,
meanings are carried within the names themselves,
and their colours vary;
the Jīwān is mentioned among the finest and most beautiful,
the Fus, a blister pearl,
the Sajni for its drop form,
and others established within the pearling heritage.
This is how people of the sea named their pearls, with knowledge, patience, and respect.
